"In the first half of the year, domestic aluminum processing enterprises started to slow down and then rose, and consumption recovered in the second quarter, but the decline in export orders was still relatively obvious." A few days ago, the "Development Directions and Opportunities of Aluminum Processing in the Post-Pandemic Situation-Profiles" hosted by Reed Exhibitions "At the online conference, Wang Weidong, a senior expert at Beijing Antaike Information Co., Ltd., said that aluminum processing export companies are turning to the domestic market, processing fees continue to fall, orders are concentrated in large enterprises, and small and medium-sized enterprises are facing multiple pressures such as weak market and tight capital chains.

Wang Weidong predicts that the output of most aluminum products in the whole year will be lower than that in the first half of the year, and the import and export of aluminum extrusion materials will both decrease, but the decline will continue to narrow. The growth points of industrial profiles are mainly architectural aluminum templates, aluminum furniture and new energy vehicles. The current holdings of aluminum templates are between 4 and 5 million tons, and the future market may reach 8-9 million tons. In terms of new energy vehicles, new models have a large amount of aluminum.

The International Aluminum Association recently introduced to the industry a new report released by the global independent research and analysis organization CM Group (CM Group). The report shows that global aluminum demand is expected to reach 298 million tons per year by 2050, and is optimistic about the aluminum industry after the new crown pneumonia epidemic. The report said that after the epidemic, the long-term driving force of aluminum growth still exists, and the opportunities are more prominent.

The report shows that there is an increasing demand for environmental protection solutions in the fields of transportation, infrastructure, energy and food safety, and the aluminum industry is providing these solutions. Previously, the global demand for aluminum has shown an increase in a trend, and the outbreak of the epidemic has boosted this trend.

Miles Prosser, Secretary-General of the International Aluminum Association, said, “The aluminum industry, like all industrial sectors, is still facing challenges in the short term, but we have reason to be optimistic. We need everyone’s participation, including consumers. , Industry leaders, policymakers, governments and all stakeholders play a role in achieving positive changes in the aluminum industry. Despite the epidemic, the aluminum industry is still full of hope and has good prospects."

Industry insiders said that consumption upgrades continue, the aluminum industry chain continues to extend downstream, and aluminum applications are increasingly diversified, creating opportunities for a new round of development of the aluminum industry.

The reporter learned that domestic aluminum processing companies resumed production relatively quickly after the epidemic. The output from January to April increased significantly year-on-year and the month-on-month in April, driving the rapid growth of domestic primary aluminum consumption; the decline in aluminum exports was within the expected range. Imports of unwrought aluminum increased significantly.

Wang Weidong believes that the aluminum industry must pursue high-quality development. On the one hand, it must develop its own characteristic products. On the other hand, it must pay attention to the enterprise and product layout, including the adjustment of the overall domestic aluminum industry layout. It must consider whether the aluminum plant is close to aluminum resources and the market. He said that "brand effect" is very important. It may take several years for a new company to enter the market. This process will test the company's comprehensive production and operation capabilities.
